Sandman Triathlon 23rd September 2018

We were well represented in this gruelling event by Tommy Hollis and Mark Tamlin.

Megan Hoad finished 2nd in the Junior Girls category at the event.

West Lancs Triathlon

26th August 2018.

Six West Lancs Tri Club members completed this popular event. Star performances came from Colin Eastham, our Great Britain Triathlon representative, who gained his customary 1st place in the over 50s category and came 3rd overall against much younger opposition.

Sandra Eastham finished 6th in her age group, while the following membersmade their debuts in this Triathlon, Andy Cunningham, Owen martin, Keith Andrews and Charlie Hutton.

Triathlon Golden Couple

Sandra and Colin Eastham both gained 1st place in their categories at the Cholmondley Triathlon on 24th June.

Colin won the Men’s Over 50 event by an outstanding 9 minutes. He was also 2nd overall in the all age category, competing against men less than half his age. Colin’s Winter training plan resulted in an 11 minute improvement from this event in 2017.

Sandra claimed 1st place in the Ladies over 50 event, improving her swimming section by a full 20 minutes. A massive improvement by anyone’s standards.

Note: Sandra and Colin celebrated their 27th Wedding Anniversary on Thursday 5th July with a good swim training session at Nye Bevan Pool.

Colin Eastham sets new West Lancs Tri Club Record!

The first West Lancs Tri Club record of the year was set by Colin Eastham at the Southport Triathlon on 20th May. Colin’s time of 1 hour 5 minutes and 55 seconds sets a new sprint distance triathlon record. See Club Records

Colin’s winter training schedule has resulted in a personal improvement of 4 minutes for this distance.

Colin came 1st in the Superveteran Category and is using the event as  preparation to represent Great Britain in the European Triathlon Championships this summer.

The Southport Tri performance of Colin’s qualified him for the 2019 European Triathlon Championships.

 

Wilmslow Triathlon

Well done to Brian Hughes, Charlotte Rawcliffe and Billy Sergeson for successfully completing this challenging event.

Youngest Triathlete

Best recent Triathlon debut must go to seven year old Tilda Burford who completed the Sefton Junior Triathlon on 29th April 2018.

West Lancs Triathlon

Well done to all West Lancs Tri Club Members who participated in this local event, our first Triathlon of the Season!

Fastest West Lancs Tri Club member was Colin Eastham, who won the over 50 category in the phenomenal time of 58 mins 51 sceonds, beating his nearest competitive rival by 1 min 16 seconds. This also placed Colin 10th in the overall field of 450 competitors.

Great performances were recorded by West Lancs Tri Club lady members, Emma Burford, Kate Zubairu and Charlotte Rawcliffe [9th female]. Well done ladies!

Excellent performances also for David Hickey [1hour 2 mins], Pau Arrastraria and Brian Higgins.

St Helens Triathlon

West Lancs Tri Club was well represented at the St Helens Triathlon, with Stuart Lunt, John Fitzgerald and Mark Dempsey all making their Olympic distance triathlon debuts in this event.

John completed both the Liverpool Triathlon and Wirral Triathlon and is busy training for his next event – the North West Modern Biathlon Championships.
