National Cross Country Championships for Emma

Well done to 13 year old Emma Bradley for yet another excellent running performance.

This time it was the National Cross Country Championships at Nottingham on 22nd February.

Emma braved muddy, wet and stormy conditions to complete this challenging Cross Country Event over 3 1/2 km in a great time with an excellent position.

Well done Emma!

Half Marathon Success for Owen Martin

Well done to Owen Martin for completing the Aintree half Marathon in December.

This caps a highly successful year for Owen, who overcame major injury to compete Triathlons, Open Water Swim and Long Distance Running events in 2019.

Owen, a regular at Meadows Swim can look forward to a Golden Year in 2020.

Fireworks 500 open water swim

A good West lancs Tri Club and Neil Thomson Swimming contingent participated in this fun end of season event. It’s an open water swim in the dark. Well done to Angela Crerar Connor, Bernie Menton, Nicola Shripmpton, Jo-Anne Robson, Phil Robson and Sophie Robson. 

Shropshire Triathlon

There was great success for West Lancs Tri Club at the Shropshire Triathlon recently. Kath Johnstone finished in 3rd place in her age group and so mounted the podium in a very competitive category. Well Done, Kath!

Running Events.

Angela Crerar Connor completed the Delamere Forest Trail Run. The Southport 10km was completed by Chris Millington (10th place and 1st in age group), Sharon Saunders and Owen Martin.

Club One Mile and Ironman Swim distance record holder James O’Neill completed his first half marathon distance run this month. Great Versatility!

Another Club record for Chris!

Chris Millington broke his own club record in winning the Aintree Half – Marathon in the phenomenal time of 1 Hour 18 Minutes and 43 Seconds.

Chris holds 5 club running records and is taking on running standards to new heights every month.

Emma Bradley, Fell Runner extraordinaire!

12 year old Emma Bradley has had a prolific season in 2019. On 15th September, Emma gained 3rd place in the Embassy Fell Race.

Then on the 22nd September, Emma won the Abersoch Bench Blast 2km Race, and secured an overall 1st place in the Abersoch Beach Chief series.

On 6th October, Emma, a Thursday night Nye Bevan regular, represented her school at the English Fell Running Championships. Emma finished 25th in UK in her age group on a wet, muddy and slippery course.

Ormskirk Triathlon

Sandra Eastham defied injury recently to put in a very good performance at the Ormskirk Triathlon.

Sandra has missed a few events due to injury this year, but has managed to keep a high level of fitness.
